Showers of Blessings for Revival

Dry. Stale. Unappealing.

No, it’s not the leftover pancakes sitting on the counter, uncovered overnight. It’s the worship service.

We’re only human. Things happen in life to steal the joy that being close to Jesus and walking with him bring into our hearts and lives. We need revival.

“Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high” (Is. 32:15)

Living in this world sucks the spiritual life right out of us. That’s why we need to attend church services regularly. Sometimes, that isn’t enough. We need to be drenched in the Spirit so we can forget the stress that weights us down.

If you want to see what I mean, read about the first church in Acts 2. This is a group of 120 believers who witnessed the cruel betrayal and crucifixion of their Messiah. That wasn’t the end of the story. He conquered death and gave them a mission.

They went to church. They gathered around in prayer, unified in their single-mindedness to carry out the job Jesus left for them. The Spirit was poured out from heaven, just like Isaiah predicted.

After that, sitting in that room wasn’t sufficient. They couldn’t get out of church fast enough. Out in the streets, they shared their message with the crowds.

Maybe my worship is dry because I need a renewal from the Spirit. God will pour it out. In fact, when He saved me He gave me the Spirit and to feel the renewing power of that self-same Spirit … 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Am I humble? Am I sincerely seeking Him? Am I praying? Have I turned from my wicked ways?

So often, we want to push our barren moments of Christianity off on God. It’s time we realize that God never moves away from us. He doesn’t stop blessing us “just because.”

If it’s not his fault…it must be us.

What are we willing to do to enjoy the spirit of revival once again?
