Experiencing Revival Part 4: Hope

The world is filled with violence, sadness and death. How can anyone stay in the uplifted state of spiritual revival living in such an environment?

We can’t. Not if we focus on the world where we live.

But we shouldn’t spend our thoughts on the wretchedness of the world. It’s a temporal place. God has passed sentence on it. Everything here is marked “to be burned.”

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating a cynical or careless attitude. The souls of sinners are invaluable to God. Show compassion for people.

However, we have no hope to offer them in this world.

Our hope lies beyond this world.

The only hope we have in this world is this: Jesus overcame the world (John 16:33). If we trust in Him, we will overcome it, as well.

Present Hope

Some Christians talk like the only hope we have lies beyond this physical earth.

If they believe that, how can they face each day?

Christ is our hope. Present tense.

Christ purifies us and preserves us.

We have salvation. It is our possession. It’s a ticket to eternal joy.

It’s also our source of strength. Through Christ, we can face the pain and loss of human existence on Earth.

How? Because we know this isn’t the end. There is more to come. In fact, the best is ahead of us.

Future Hope

Malachi chapter four outlines the hope of Israel. A hope centered on Messiah. A hope most of them failed to recognize when Jesus Christ came to them.

If the world gets you down, look ahead. There is much to look forward to:

  1. The end of the curse
  2. Eternal healing
  3. A forever without sorrow and death

And it’s coming soon. Christ promised to return and take us to reside with him forever (John 14:3).

The true source of revival can’t be found on Earth. It can only be glimpsed through faith.

Are you looking for Jesus to return and take you home? Do you believe it can happen this very instant?

If you can truly answer yes, you’ve discovered the biggest secret to revival. Basking in the sure and precious hope, the blessed return of our Savior, elevates a soul to heavenly joy.

It is the hope and prayer of this writer that you’ve discovered the true pathway to revival. A review of the check-points:

  1. Humility and repentance
  2. Embracing the love of God
  3. Honoring the holiness of God
    1. Including proper reverence
