During the month of March, St. Helens Baptist Church is going to devote a week to another Love Works initiative. This will be our second year doing this. Read about our first here.
Too many people in our world think love is an emotion, a nebulous feel-good moment between lovers, friends or family.
True Love is so much more than that.
For an accurate picture of love, we must look to Jesus Christ for an example (and for the best example of anything positive in our world).
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his live for his friends” (John 15:13).
If I love someone, my actions will show it. I will sacrifice my own well-being for theirs. Not even death is too great a price to pay to demonstrate love.
This is the principle behind this Love Works initiative. Love is an action, and when love works – physically – people are drawn to Christ.
Once again, the month of March will see this blog discussing and promoting the concept behind this initiative.
In truth, the only way to win the world to Christ is to show them His love.
And His love works. It worked by serving others selflessly for a lifetime. His love is the only thing strong enough to buy us back from the clutches of sin and death.
